YESSS…you read it right. Data Science in Movies!!!

Now that sounds awesome, isn’t it?

From determining production costs to developing targeted marketing campaigns, there are numerous factors at work in filmmaking. Data science is involved in almost every step of the process, and data science professionals can learn a lot from the film industry. In a variety of films, the field of data science appears as a meaty subject matter. In recent years, major films have been made about real-life innovators alongside fictionalised stories that use predictive analysis, machine learning, and AI as central plot themes.

These were movies that demonstrated the use of Data Science but lacked scientific support. Now, I understand that this is a highly subjective list, so if you think I missed any movies that should be on it, please let me know in the comments section.

Here are the top 8 Data Science / ML / AI movies according to me which are a must watch.

HAVE FUN!!!

  1. Godzilla vs. Kong
Godzilla vs. Kong

Adam Wingard directed this 2021 American monster film. It is the fourth film in Legendary’s MonsterVerse, following Godzilla: King of the Monsters (2019) and Kong: Skull Island (2017). Alexander Skarsgard, Millie Bobby Brown, Rebecca Hall, Brian Tyree Henry, Shun Oguri, Eiza González, Julian Dennison, Lance Reddick, Kyle Chandler, and Demián Bichir star in the film. Jim Sturgess, Kevin Spacey, Laurence Fishburne, Kate Bosworth, Liza Lapira, Jacob Pitts, Aaron Yoo, and Kieu Chinh star in the 2008 American heist drama film 21. The film is based on the true storey of the MIT Blackjack Team, as told in Ben Mezrich’s best-selling 2003 book Bringing Down the House. Micky, a math professor, recruits five brilliant students and uses their skills to win millions of dollars at blackjack in Las Vegas. Despite receiving mostly negative reviews and sparking controversy over the film’s casting choices, 21 was a box office success, debuting at number one in the United States and Canada on its first and second weekends of release.

4. Interstellar

The mission takes the astronauts on a spectacular interstellar journey through time and space, but they miss out on their own lives back home, which is light years away. TARS and CASE, two quadrilateral robots, are aboard the spaceship Endurance. They have an uncanny resemblance to the monoliths from 2001: A Space Odyssey.

5. A.I. ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE

A.I.

Steven Spielberg’s A.I Artificial Intelligence is a science fiction drama. The storey takes us to a not-too-distant future in which ocean levels are rising as a result of global warming and most coastal cities are flooded. Humans migrate to the continent’s interior and continue to advance their technology. Realistic robots known as “Mechas” are one of the most recent inventions.

Mechas are humanoid robots that are extremely complex but lack emotions. This changes when David, a prototype Mecha child capable of loving, is created. He is given to Henry and his wife Monica, whose son has a rare disease and is in cryostasis. David lavishes love and support on his new family, but things become complicated when Monica’s biological son returns home after a cure is discovered. The film investigates every possible emotional interaction between humans and emotionally capable A.I. technology.

6. The Matrix

The sequel to 1982’s Blade Runner has stunning visuals that keep the audience’s attention throughout the film. Blade Runner is a police officer who hunts down and kills rogue replicants. Ryan Gosling plays “K,” a man on the hunt for replicants who pose a threat to the world. He bases every decision he makes on research. The films investigate the relationships and emotions of artificially intelligent beings while also raising moral concerns about the freedom to live and the life of self-aware technology.

8. The Terminator

The Terminator

The Terminator is an American science fiction film directed by James Cameron that was released in 1984. It stars Arnold Schwarzenegger as the Terminator, a cyborg assassin known as T-800 model 101 sent back in time from 2029 to 1984 to kill Sarah Connor (Linda Hamilton), whose son will one day save humanity from extinction in a post-apocalyptic future by a hostile artificial intelligence. Kyle Reese, a soldier sent back in time to save Sarah, is played by Michael Biehn. In this classic, we see advanced artificial intelligence at work and how it sees humanity as the world’s greatest threat. Only freedom fighters led by John Connor stand in their way of total annihilation of the human race. As a result, sending The Terminator back in time to change their fate is the highest priority.

That’s all for this script. Thankyou for reading this blog, hope you will enjoy my other blogs too.
